Can Dirty Windows Affect Your Mood?
One person sees the beautiful view and the other sees the dirty windows.” – Andrew Matthews
The question is…“What do you see?”
Are your dirty windows affecting your mood, your outlook on life, or even causing you stress? It’s possible…it’s kind of a domino affect, clean windows allow natural light to more easily come into your home, and the more natural light that comes through your windows, the better your mood, and the more beautiful the landscape.
Feng Shui promotes clean windows…
Feng Shui is an ancient religion that is centered around keeping the atmosphere of the home open and bright, allowing good energy to enter and stay, keeping bad energy out. That good energy promotes healing and health, both physically, emotionally and spiritually. Feng Shui emphasizes clean homes, with clean windows that allow as much natural light as possible to flood the home.
Feng Shui teaches us that our windows are our eyes to the world, emphasizes that we should have them cleaned routinely, whether you do it yourself or hire someone to do it for you.
How does natural light affect you?
There is a song that says “the best things in life are free“…natural light is free and it’s one of the things that can benefit our mood and our health in several ways:
- It triggers the production of Endorphins, the body’s “feel good” chemical, which promotes mental well being and helps ease depression and alleviate anxiety and stress.
- It is a good source of Vitamin D, which strengthens, teeth, muscles, bones and your brain. Vitamin D is very important in the treatment of depression.
- It helps you sleep better at night, and be more productive during the day. The Sleep Foundation has said that when you have had a good amount of natural light during our day, your are not only more alert, but more productive, which leads to better sleep at night.
- It helps the eyes produce dopamine, which helps lower the risk of nearsightedness in children and youth.
