New Year’s Resolution 2021 – Clean Windows
You may be asking yourself…”Why do I need to make clean windows one of my New Year’s resolutions, is it that important?” To that, I have to answer a resounding YES! Having clean windows is about more than just looking nice, it’s about protection, maintenance, health and energy efficiency.
Things such as dirt particles, acid rain, and hard water stains, can leave your windows vulnerable to scratches and cracking, poor air quality,and even the need to be replaced.
The Importance of Clean Windows…
Improve Air Quality – Believe it or not, clean windows help improve the air quality in your home, especially when it comes to keeping the dirt and mold away. Mold can easily build up on and around your windows, and as we all know, mold is hazardous to your health, especially if you or someone in your home has respiratory problems. Clean windows will help keep you and your family healthy.
Clean windows also removes buildup from candle smoke, cooking smoke, fireplace smoke, and cigarette smoke, all of which lower the quality of the air you breath .
Prevent Damage – How can dirt damage your windows? First of all, most people don’t think of glass as a porous surface, but it is…so all kinds of particles can be absorbed into the glass, such as dirt, water, and other environmental materials, where they can build up. As they accumulate, scratches, corrosion, chips and cracks can form which can permanently damage your window which can lead to the need to replace them.
Also, when you clean your windows, be sure to clean the window tracks as well, this will help your windows open and close properly.
Promote Energy Efficiency – Have you ever seen windows that were so dirty you could barely see through them? Not only will dirty windows prevent you from seeing out, but when such things as pollen, dirt, and dive bombings from birds cover your windows, it also prevents the sun to enter, keeping your home darker, and you miss out on the warming benefits of the UV rays of the sun, lowering the heating efficiency of your furnace.
